Agriculture and Greenhouse Monitoring

Monitoring environmental conditions is important for farmers to maintain their plantation at optimum temperature and soil-humidity. This simple monitoring allows farmers to grow their crop efficiently and increase productivity. In Europe it is also an energy saving tool during the winter.
The environment in a greenhouse must be maintained at a specific temperature level, humidity and CO2 concentration, therefore the growth process needs a constant twenty-four-seven monitoring. Several measurement points are required to comprehensively cover the area where plants are growing. For measuring various parameters, e.g. temperature, humidity, light and CO2, different wireless sensors can be used.

SenzaBlocks from E-Senza are wireless sensor nodes, which can be installed plug & play. They collect data in pre-defined reading cycles and send them over a wireless network to the gateway. A cable-based solution would make such a monitoring system expensive and cumbersome. E-Senza`s approach is to use a flexible mesh network with GPRS gateway which enables even the monitoring of remote green houses. Even a set of green houses with an Internet connection can be interconnected to a remote server with our monitoring application SenzaWMS. The system ensures immediate response to any changes in the controlled parameters.
