Energy Efficiency

smart metering
Energy management is probably one of the areas where wireless networking can deliver its greatest benefits. There are two application areas, which have developed almost independently so far, but we believe they could and should be combined to deliver even greater benefits:

Wireless collection of Metering data is bringing millions of previously hand-collected datasets into our customers databases, allowing them to bill more accurately and also to meet regulatory requirements for quicker ond more frequent billing.
SenzaNET is well suited for even very large-scale deployments of advanced meter reading solutions, since it can be scaled easily to cover either individual buildings, neighborhoods or complete districts. Additionally, central administration of metering-devices and configurable start-points and calibrations help to minimize the overall administration effort.

The second area of energy management is the collection of process data, which is needed to understand the drivers of energy consumption thus paving the way for tapping the associated optimization potentials. Usually, various parameters will need to be combined to get the full picture: In Buildings, temperature and humidity will mostly be needed to understand how much heating, ventilation and air-conditioning is required and to make sure that no over-spending of energy is happening. Plants and factories are much more complex and additional parameters like pressure, flow, piece count will be needed. The key benefit of “Wireless” is, that it allows to collect such data much more comprehensively and flexibly than this was possible before.

Comparing consumption data collected from Meters provides guidance on where to focus, analyzing process data unveils the optimization potentials and lays the foundation to actually reduce consumption.
SenzaNET is ideally suited to fulfill both promises, because Metering devices as well as process data can be collected with the same wireless system and no island solutions must be built and fit together later on.
