Temperature Monitoring in Cold Chains

temperature monitoring cold chains

Wireless Monitoring of Cold Chains has a very attractive business case: Visibility can dramatically be improved, both in terms of promptness, accuracy and comprehensiveness of data-collection. Manual efforts can be eliminated and energy consumption can be optimized.

E-Senza offers a variety of battery-powered wireless nodes (SenzaBlocks) with integrated temperature sensors for best trade-off between cost and performance. The SenzaBlock nodes exchange data through a self-organizing wireless mesh network.
Such a wireless network is managed by a gateway devices called SenzaGate, which also provides connectivity to remote control centers.  Bi-directional communication is also supported, allowing each SenzaBlock to be wirelessly controlled and to pre-define alarm-levels.

Obligations towards regulators or insurance companies can be fulfilled and in case of deviations from target values one can react much quicker and thus prevent losses. It can also be determined where energy is being lost, aiding in the reduction of unnecessary energy consumption.

SenzaNET can also combine sensing with identification capabilities. Besides pure documentation of temperature measurements, SenzaNET devices can be used for the identification of an asset. If this asset moves through the Cold Chain, e.g. during transportation, its SenzaBlock will buffer data and automatically re-connect to another gateway when within reach. Since all gateways and SenzaBlocks can be managed by a single server running SenzaWMS, all data-collection is uninterrupted and comprehensive monitoring and documentation is provided.
